Jack Cummins, former president of BOOM! Studios and former president of Archaia Entertainment, passed away in Chicago on Monday, February 12th, 2018, after a brief illness. He was 51.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][us_separator size=”small”][vc_column_text]Jack was a lawyer by trade and an entrepreneur at heart. In 2010, when Archaia was still a fledgling company, Jack led a group of Chicago investors who put financing into the company to help grow its business. A lifelong, self-professed geek who could quote Lord of the Rings by heart, Jack loved the comic book business and especially loved the creators he had an opportunity to work with through Archaia.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]In 2012 Jack took on a more full-time role at Archaia, becoming president of the company and running the day-to-day of the business alongside Editor-in-Chief Stephen Christy and Publisher Mike Kennedy. Jack had a hand behind the scenes in supporting a number of Archaia projects including Bolivar, Rust, Jim Henson’s Tale of Sand, Jane, and Cyborg 009. Seeking to further grow the business and create greater opportunity for Archaia’s creators, in 2013 Jack made the decision to sell Archaia to BOOM! Studios. This combination of companies boasted the largest library of comic book IP outside of Marvel and DC Comics.
Following the acquisition of Archaia by BOOM!, Jack remained at the company for a year as president before transitioning to other opportunities. Though he stepped away from day-to-day involvement in the business, he remained a friend and loyal supporter of the company.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][us_separator size=”small”][us_image image=”13411″ align=”center” style=”shadow-1″ onclick=”lightbox”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][us_separator size=”small”][vc_column_text]We are grateful to Jack for everything he did during his time at Archaia and BOOM!, and we mourn the loss of our friend and colleague.[/vc_column_text][us_separator size=”small”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][us_image image=”13338″ align=”center” style=”shadow-1″ onclick=”lightbox”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][us_separator size=”large”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
